Polygamy,
only bad things result

The False Cause Fallacy

The Bible has plenty of monogamous marriages that had bad consequences, but these are totally overlooked in this vain attempt to discredit polygamy.

Before exposing this appalling effort to argue against polygamy, let us look at the current social evils that have to be pushed aside to point the accusing finger of this totally flawed argument against polygamy.

This is not a complete list of social evils extant, and while the official data are for USA the figures will match in many other western monogamous cultures.

1. There are over 250 women's refuge centers in the USA, obviously not for polygamous women only.
2. Incest in the USA is under reported and pandemic, this includes pedophilia in predominantly monogamous homes.
3. USA women have been abused in many forms, 1 in 5 have suffered. These are not polygamous women.
4. Of the 320,000 children missing each year in the USA, 20,000 are never found. Truly not a polygamous problem.
5. The USA is ranked worst of all countries for human trafficking with nearly 200,000 incidents each year.
6. Born again Christians have divorce rates of nearly 40%, close to the national average, these are bad consequences in Christian monogamous marriages.

Marriage structure does not create "bad consequences". Sin in the participants of any marriage brings about the suffering.

The troubles in David's house were not because he was a polygamist, the Lord gave him multiple wives, but because David despised the Lord the Lord raised up evil in David's house.

Job said, “Man Is BORN unto trouble as the sparks fly upward.” Job 5:7.

Just being born into a world of sin means we are born into a world of negative consequences.

Bad consequences of monogamy.
It’s just as logical to say that MONOGAMY resulted in the Fall. Adam and Eve brought sin and death into the world.

And look at what MONOGAMY caused in Adam’s and Eve’s household, resulting in Abel‘s murder by Cain!

Look at how growing up in a MONOGAMOUS household affected Esau’s relationship with Jacob!

Do you see the fallacy here?
In the study of logic, this is what is called the False Cause Fallacy.

What negative consequences resulted from the polygamy of Caleb?

What negative consequences resulted from the polygamy of Jair?

What negative consequences resulted from the polygamy of Ibzan?

What negative consequences resulted from the polygamy of Abdon?

What negative consequences resulted from the polygamy of king Joash?

What negative consequences resulted from the polygamy of the Lord?

This is atrocious logic and flawed biblical exegesis.

And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;

And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.
2Sam.12:7-8.

Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house,...
2Sam.12:10-11a

"bad consequences" are not the result of marriage structure, there are unhappy monogamous and polygamous marriages

if polygamy brings bad consequences and is to be rejected
what about monogamy, the marriage with the worst consequences?
